Well, I realize that I haven’t made a Sufjan Stevens post yet, and considering his overwhelming impact on the independent music scene the past five years or so, he’s certainly deserving. But Sufjan, where oh where have you been the past year plus? I guess living in a dreamy, freaky cave surrounded by all of his instruments…and ready to explode.
If you’ve been following the Dark Was the Night compilation release, you can probably tell that it will be one of the best releases (compilation or no) all year. So, here Sufjan is back and ready to roll with a cover of the Castanets’ grand “You Are The Blood”. For most of the song’s near 8 minutes, it’s not your typical Sufjan, sounding more like a folky Thom Yorke than anything else. You’re gonna love it.
